Pre-Road Trip Post

So this Saturday I'm leaving for my epic trip across the country with the three other W-H'ers. Don't worry. I'm going to be a music nazi the entire trip. I told Mike that we can only listen to "White Houses" once a state.

But before I leave, I'm giving you guys some fabulous songs that you may enjoy in my absence.

The Rakes - The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect (In what way was this song not meant for us?)

Dodgy - Good Enough

Jessica Hoop - Intelligentactile 101 (This girl was a nanny for Tom Waits' kids. I mean, is there much cooler than that? Also, ten bucks says that this song is in the next season of Grey's Anatomy.)

Jeremy Fischer - Jolene

Pernice Brothers - Somerville

Explosions In the Sky - Look Into the Air (This one's instrumental and random. It's from Friday Night Lights and it's really good sleeping music).

And just because I can...

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell (ACOUSTIC BITCHES)

Ok dears. Enjoy the music and I shall return soon. Or not. I might get eaten by bears in Yellowstone. Good thing I'm taking my Bear Facts Playing Cards. Post tons of music for when I get back.

I Did It! ------ I Think.

Lady Friends.

I am entitling this mix Summer Catch. Not for a reference to the now Where Are They Now? Freddie Prinze Jr. But because of the darn catchiness of these songs I think represent summer. YES. Jessica Biel listen to THIS:

Come On Petunia - The Blow
-this adds to nina's previous mix with covers

Hello darlings. I'm so glad to see two of you have been able to make it through the treacherous path of creating a username for ze blog. I decided that I wanted to post my top ten favorite songs....ever. This has been mighty hard. In the process of making the list, I ended up with 23 songs. So don't be surprised if I do it again with ten new and different songs. IRREGARDLESS. Here they are in no particular order.

1. Foo Fighters - Everlong. Apparently this song is also Dave Letterman's favorite song. We're basically the same person Dave and I.

2. Weezer - The World Has Turned And Left Me Here. This song is so fantastically emo it makes me want to put on some dark rimmed glasses and clip my keys onto a caribeener on my belt loops. The Blue Album will always be one of my favorite albums. Who didn't love the Buddy Holly video when they were in a fucking episode of Happy Days?

3. Bright Eyes - Land Locked Blues. I won't try and defend myself on this one. I love this song. I love Bright Eyes. Everyone just has to deal with it.

4. The Beatles - Hey Jude. I actually just love when Paul McCartney yells "Hey Juuudy Judy Judy Judy!" because it reminds me of Izzard. Don't call me Judy!

5. Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressue. If you need to be convinced that this is the greatest song ever, then we're probably not actually friends.

6. The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go? This one was hard to choose. It was either this one or Train In Vain. However, this one won out because of the first 30 seconds.

7. U2 - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses? Bono. The Edge. Adam. Larry. Who's going to ride my wild horses U2? BONO. That's who.

8. Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness. When they opened for Green Day they played this song and I didn't realize until that point that I love this song far too much. The chorus basically makes you wish you were a much better singer than you are. Unless you're EC and can actually sing.

9. All These Things That I've Done - The Killers. Fine Flowers. You win. This is an awesome song and it rules to hear it live. Ok? Just because it's one of my favorite songs doesn't mean I can hate you any less.

10. Violent Femmes - Blister In the Sun. Here's where I admit I've never seen Grosse Pointe Blank. Irregardless, I love this song, the beginning, the chorus, the odd references to big hands.

Honorable mentions: Me and Julio - Paul Simon; Carousel - Blink 182; Clementine - Elliott Smith; Waiting - Green Day; Don't Think Twice It's Alright - Bob Dylan; Last Nite - The Strokes; Devil's Haircut - Beck; Take A Walk On the Wildside - Lou Reed

So chilluns...what be your top ten? Post away so I can steal your music. With our powers combined, there's no stopping our musical domination! Let's go team!
